LSF#2 – Exposure
Longship Film’s second film project is titled Exposure. For our second venture we travelled to the United States where our first film Second Honeymoon premiered at the Flyway Film Festival and we filmed in the Algarve too. The Lake Pepin, Wisconsin community got behind the project in a huge way. We where able to find accommodation, cast members, additional crew, locations, props and an[su_lightbox type=”image” src=”http://longshipfilms.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/far_away_vogue.jpg”] amazing vehicle [/su_lightbox]which became the unofficial star of the film.
Back in the Algarve for the second phase of shooting, we once again enjoyed all the hospitality, warmth and beauty that the region has to offer. And found[su_lightbox type=”image” src=”http://longshipfilms.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/LSF22017-15.jpg”] another amazing vehicle [/su_lightbox]to star in the film!
Now in almost at the end of post-production and the film is shaping up to be a tender and heart-felt examination of love, break-ups and the vagaries of memory. Our crowdfunding campaign on Seed&Spark completed successfully. you can still help out by ‘following’ the campaign on the Seed^Spark platform. Please sign up for our newsletter so we can keep you posted about screenings and such. We promise we will not inundate you with emails!

Co-founder of Longship Films, Kristjan Knigge also took on the mantle of director for Longship’s second feature project. He naively thought that the second time around would be easier. It wasn’t. Filmmaking is inherently not easy. But it is fun.
Jackie Poplar, or ‘Jax’ brought immense humour, warmth and drive to the team. The writing is definitely the hardest part of the Longship process, but Jacky was undaunted and unflagging, churning out pages and re-writes almost continuously.
Chad McClarnon: eye of a photographer, mind of a storyteller, fingers of a painter and wit of grumpy sardonic beagle. Chad drove his Prius filled with camera and lighting gear for 13 hours up from his home town of Nashville to join in the crazy adventure that is a Longship production. And he kicked it big time.
Having starred in Longship’s first film, Second Honeymoon, Sytse joined the team again for Exposure. The script took an unexpected turn, and Sytse ended up not starring in the film, but picked up the task of Sound recordist and did an amazing job. What a guy!
Kristjan couldn’t embark on his second Longship journey without bringing his mum, BJ, again. A whole different set of challenges arose in Wisconsin than had been the case on Second Honeymoon, but Bj rose to the challenge of course. Pictured here with one of her wardrobe creations: Slutty Laura Ingalls.
After his experience as colourist on Second Honeymoon, Jelle rejoins the team as the editor on Exposure. His task is daunting and complex, trying to bring a rambling and meandering tale together into a coherent film.

Geerteke van Lierop
Geerteke van Lierop starred in Longship’s first film, Second Honeymoon (she’s the one on the left on the poster), and enjoyed the experience so much that she wanted to be a part of this project too. The inclement autumn weather in Wisconsin was challenging as almost all her scenes take place in the windy, wet outdoors, but she once again delivered a heartfelt performance playing one of the lead characters in the film.
After meeting the crew at a Flyway Minima after party, Erica decided to throw caution to the wind and join the Team. Famous at Flyway for being the Co-founder of Seed&Spark, Erica is also an accomplished producer and actress. Both skills she put to excellent use in the making of Exposure. She plays the second lead character in the film.
Charlie was the first person our Director, Kristjan, ran in to when he arrived at Flyway headquarters. When asked if he’d like to join the Team, Charlie immediately said yes, and was signed on as a PA… but soon he was cast to play a role in the film too. Pictured here in his usual evening wear.
When the character ‘Local Sheriff’ was written into the script, there was really only one candidate: Dave Potter. Actor, fight choreographer, Art Department wizard, producer… and the list goes on. David jumped aboard, found his inner sheriff and shone in the part. And hey, an actor that sources his own props… Indie heaven!
The fabulous Lexi joined the project as an actress, playing one of the main characters antagonists. She completely nailed it, and her enthusiasm and energy where a massive boost to the team. She also won the prize for best costume at Gellys halloween party, while we where shooting there!
